Ten Things About Me:
1) Though I’m now a software developer, I didn’t own a computer until I was 20 years old, and that one was a hand-me-down from my boyfriend (now husband).
2) Since I didn’t have a computer, I had to have been going to school for something else, right? Before I was a software developer, I was a…wait for it…lawyer. Yup. That’s right. No ambulances or anything, not even any courtrooms – just boardrooms (corporate/securities). Fun stuff…yeah, not so much.
3) My first PC videogame was Gabriel Knight 3, which I loved. But the game that changed everything for me was Dark Age of Camelot, in 2001. For those who don’t know, it’s an MMO. I watched my husband play it for a month, looking over his shoulder and frowning, “But you’re just killing the same thing over and over again…” “Are those real people you’re talking to?” He promptly bought it for me for Christmas. I was such a total noob I made the worst race-class combination possible, an Avalonian Paladin. See, she had high intelligence, so she would be smart! I finally cancelled my DAoC account 9 years, 27 characters and 4 servers later.
4) I love gadgets. I’m a loot whore in games, and if it’s a gadget, out of games. I lust over every new smartphone, tablet, MP3 player or camera. I upgrade my computers whenever I can. I’m convinced that the NEXT one I own is going to be the one that changes my life.
5) I’m a minimalist (unless it’s a gadget). I love simple, elegant, open architecture and spaces, and despise clutter. I love the freedom having few possessions brings – if we need or want to move to another city, I want to be able to do it in a week. Relatedly…
6) I’m a gypsy at heart. While I’ve only lived in 4 different states (not counting college), I’ve traveled everywhere, and have a list of at least 5 more places I’d like to live. My husband has grudgingly accepted this little personality quirk of mine .
7) I want to live forever…or at least a really long time. I love science fiction in which we’ve solved this little “death” problem in one way or another, and am anxiously awaiting the Singularity, which should be here any day now. :: taps foot impatiently ::
8) I work from home – or rather, from anywhere. Love it, even if it has made me even more anti-social than I was before, and doubt I could ever go back to an office job.
9) Writing is the great passion of my life – and I never knew it until the last year. I wrote a decent amount in high school and college, and of course I wrote lots of very boring things in that evil lawyer job. But writing “If It Meant Living” has unlocked a creative fire I didn’t realize existed. Now that I know, I’ll never stop writing.
10) I have an amazing and wonderful husband, whom I will have been married to for 15 years next month. He’s the only person I know that can out-think me, challenge me. He has willingly and even enthusiastically allowed me to yank him out of his comfort zone, dragging him around the country and into adventure after adventure, and I love him for it <3.

RiHouston's Questions:
1.) Coffee or tea? Black or cream and sugar? Both, sporadically and erratically. Black all the way.
2.) What is your one weakness that you can't ever say no to or pass up? Pizza. Reeses Cups. Wine. Kaidan Alenko art. Wait, that was more than one, wasn’t it?
3.) If you were given $15,000 what would you do with it? I would say pay off the credit cards, but we just did that. Take a vacation to Fiji and stay in one of those huts out over the water.
4.) What is your favorite pick-me-up that helps you through tough times? Music with inspirational lyrics or an uplifting melody. My Dad’s an amazing musician, and I grew up with music all around me.
5.) Do you believe in true love? Absolutely. Found it.
6.) What are the top three things on your personal Bucket List? (1) Live forever. (2) Go to the stars when we live forever. (3) Hike the tallest mountain on some far-off planet we visit while we are living forever.
7.) What is your favorite food or snack? Pizza :: sigh ::
8.) Which artist or writer you would love to be most like with your own work? Peter Hamilton, Terry Goodkind and Elizabeth Haydon in writing. Tigaer, Phoenix-06, and Shue13 in digital art.

10.) What is the one thing you've regretted doing/not doing? Not becoming a computer/tech geek far, far earlier in life.
